Needing Tips on how to Build your Email List as a Small Business?

Being an online creator and building a small business is exciting, but your digital products won’t sell themselves. Therefore, to be a successful course creator you need to grow your email list, so you have an audience to sell to. Your email list is always going to be your greatest asset, as you own it as opposed to your social media platform.
With your social media platforms, you could wake up one day and find your Instagram account is deleted, without an explanation or a way to get it back. I know this first-hand because this happened to me. Nor are you at the mercy of the social media algorithm changes, and not being able to control if your audience is going to see your posts or not.
Get an Email Marketing Software
First you need an email marketing software. The most common ones for small businesses are MailChimp, Active Campaign, and ConvertKit.
Set up an account and you’ll be able to create a Landing Page or Opt-In Page, to capture email addresses, and store your Email Database. You can create newsletters, email automations, and send email sequences.
Create a Lead Magnet
You need to grow your audience as soon as possible. To do this you need a good lead magnet or freebie, as your opt-in offer is called. They are things you can offer your audience in exchange for their email addresses. These can be checklists, eBooks, free trainings etc.
Ask yourself what is it your customers are struggling with? What is it you could give them to help them with this? It’s not the full solution, but a great start and the first step to give value that your audience will resonate with.

Create a Landing Page
You need to create a landing page and an automation. This is the page you will send people to where they will enter their email to get your free Lead Magnet, and they will be automatically added to your Email List.
Drive traffic to your Lead Magnet
Use your social media platform to convert followers into email subscribers. You can promote your lead magnet in your social media bio, in social media posts, in your story, in Facebook groups, in forums or other places where your audience hangs out, provided you are allowed to promote your business.
You can promote your freebie on your website in the sidebar or/and in pop-ups, and in blog posts or in guest posts on other websites.
The free strategies above are great but organic marketing takes time. It’s going to take at least a few months to begin to see some real traction.
Build your Email List fast
If you want to build a list fast, your best option is paid Facebook Ads. Facebook Ads are by far the most effective and cost-effective way to market in today’s world. The limitation is there’s quite a lot of testing involved before you create the perfect ad.
Before you go down this lane, and make sure your lead magnet is a good offer. Is the targeting right? Is the image and copy compelling? Is it capturing people’s attention?
Once you have got this in place, it’s a lot easier to start with paid ads.
I hope this has been helpful to you in coming up with your own strategy for building your email list.
